Voice Management
« on: April 06, 2018, 06:14:34 PM »
I think this needs to be implemented in both the PUG servers and Standard 1.

https://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=69006?t=69006

I know there's a lot of discussion going on about spamming mic in standard and I think a simple fix would be for alive players to only hear those who are alive (people who are trying to play the game) and the dead can only speak to the dead.

The plugin from what I can tell will also help out with calling out where someone is at in the PUG servers.

*note*I'd like to just point out that this suggestion for the standard is coming from other players who are requesting some silence when they're playing the game. I've been receiving an influx of complaints from people in-game and private steam messages.

I'm personally throwing this suggestion in for the PUG/scrim.

Well actually booty!! This plugin gives admins the ability to override it and talk to everyone AND have a private admin voice chat in game!

Aaaand not to try and make admins god or anything... But that admin all chat will mute everyone else so nobody can speak over the admin.  8)

*evil laugh* now with even more abusive powers
Caboose's average day:
1. Aim at feet
2. Mag dump
3. Reload
4. Repeat
10/10 happy by the end of the day

Well it's not really meant to be abusive... if anything,  any admin who's caught abusing the all-chat just to tell a story that has nothing to do with the game/rules will be in trouble. And apparently admins can still be heard by people who mute thanks to this plugin.

This is actually pretty interesting, but I do see a potentially heavy downside for admins. Dead players will be on voice a lot more and, if I'm reading it right, admins who are alive will basically end up flooded with voice in game.

I think that's true tirant but i also think there's the toggle for it that mentions admins can choose to listen to all or not. Which can go back to the argument whether an admin is doing their job or not  :-\

I think we could definitely test run the plugin in standard 2 or the 24/7 dust server and see how it goes.

Just wanted to get everyone's input on this idea as well.   ;D

Yeah, I'm not saying it's a bad idea (I'm probably more bitchy about people on voice than many because I rely too much on sound to make up for mediocre strategy), but I think we'd need to work through how scenarios get handled too.

If I'm in a try-hard mood and dead people are yelling in my ear, I'm going to be pissed. If I turn them off and somebody is doing abusive shit, do I just shrug? Do I believe the person who told me and ban them? Do I require a demo from that person?

Yeah I see where you're getting at Tirant and I think a lot of people are already up tight about the current admin rules as it is. Definitely something that would take a long time to implement in standard 1. But definitely PUG!  ;D

Although, I personally don't care if there's chatter on the mic during standard. I'm usually holding the baby anyways when I'm playing. So I guess the only time I would trust to turn off the allchat as an admin is when I can trust another fellow admin to look out(which isn't quite fair).

I AM FOR THIS. The players in the morning like to talk a lot and have friendly conversations and banter, which personally I have no problem with, until it disrupts a players ability to win the round or make decisions based off noise.

To know that 'dead chat' has improved to that level is actually exciting.  Knowing that admins could have the option to mute or listen is pretty elite.  I know I personally play the game for socialization (hah) so I have always liked dead chat on servers --- I also die really quickly, so trying to stay quiet for three minutes is difficult ;)  .  Anyways, I think it would be smart to try it out.  Make sure it doesn't cause server issues and keep the community socializing and building new relationships! :)

Actually... This might be better than giving amx_gag rights. Usually it's just voice issues that need to be squelched for being dumb.

amx_mute <name/#userid>

Mute a player untill the map change +1

The only issues I can see is interadmin chat getting spammy

+adminvoice

As an admin, you will talk to all players and all players will be muted mute other admins?

does this mute other admins?
