I wouldnt mind it if the round wins was much shorter so the map play was shorter, fast map times, fast map changes, keep it from getting stale.

you'd have to reduce the recentmaps from 8 for that to work.

Always preferred number of rounds over a set amount of time for map changes. It helps with stacking of teams.

Banning past 8 maps is over kill. Basic math suggests each map lasts 30 min, so 8 x 30 = 240 min or 4 hours before the same map can be played again. I would just add every map in the world that there is and let people pick the one they like.

i dont like recent maps at 8 either... i'd prefer it at 2... cause inferno is a strong map that brings alot of people in and mill

i'd say 3 is around the best imo.

getting back to the original issue though do you (ubiquitous) know why when RTV finishes it will change to a random map not what won?

We tried that and it went form dd2 (when it was on server) to inferno most of the time no other map was voted on well maybe a nuke now and then. This is why the last few map banning came into effect.

So we could have just had a map rotation of 3 maybe 4 maps and then take off map vote.  So it would be a glorified DD2 server with a few maps

I think and I said think most players come to the server for the variety of maps

It is very pick and choose approach that you use.

"We put maps on the server that people voted for on the forums. Hey, people vote Dust2 over and over again. That's bad??"

See the double standards there?

Anyway, I do agree with you on having a wide variety of maps. Only reason why I join the XA server is because I get to play cpl_fire.

Here is my suggested setup.

50+ maps on the server. Set map cycle of 4 popular maps, unless nominations are made. When nominations are made, then and only then vote map comes up with the nominated options.

If you want to have map vote every time then:

Other thing would be set number of rounds per map, and I mean win limit not number of rounds. Any team that wins 10 rounds, wins the map. You can set the map voting at a specific round, lets say round 8.

Thank you spirit, I have been trying to articulate what you wrote since I joined XA and have never been able to relay it as well as you did.  That is exactly what I was thinking we should do.
